We have modeled our team positions to the Special Ops Paintball descriptions, with some additions:
Dagger: Light Rifleman (Flanker, Runner, Quick Assault) Saber: Medium Rifleman (Utility--Pointman, Suppression, Flanker, Assault) Broadsword: Heavy Rifleman (Suppression, Base of Fire, Defense, Assault) Stiletto: Sniper/Sharpshooter (Ambush, Ghost Flanker, Recon, anti-Sniper) Katana: Grenadier (Grenade, Mine, Mortar, and Rocket Deployment) Hammer: Heavy Gunner (30+ bps, Serious Suppression, Artillery, Defense). Razorback: Mechanized / Tank Crew
DAGGER: As TAP’s light riflemen, the Daggers are responsible for getting where the team needs them as fast as they possibly can. Daggers bravely take care of the most difficult flanks required of the team, performing lightning assaults while the rest of the team covers them. They may also be asked to run flags, equipment, or even intel where it is needed most. They are lightly equipped and in excellent physical condition (for a TAP member!).
SABER: TAP’s medium riflemen enjoy taking any utility position, from running and flanking to playing sniper or offering suppression fire, especially if other team members have been eliminated. They also serve as the team’s scouts, taking point in our advance and being the first to engage our team’s opponents.
BROADSWORD: TAP’s heavy riflemen’s specialty is suppression fire, providing a base of fire as other team members flank opponents. They carry heavy gear kits for laying down covering fire, allowing the rest of the team to move up to more advantageous positions. They also cover in a team retreat and establish a line of defense until TAPs can retake the field.
STILETTO: A TAP sniper may specialize in camouflage, to take the opposition by surprise with an ambush or a “Ghost Flank” (taking their flank without being seen). They are excellent in recon and sharpshooting, and know how to anticipate and take out opposing snipers before they eliminate the rest of the team.
KATANA: Grenadiers carry the heaviest weapons in TAP’s arsenal, from Scepter grenade launchers and many types of grenades and mines, to our larger mortar cannon and bazooka. They enjoy drenching the field in paint and eliminating large groups of opposing players in one shot. They may also be called upon to eliminate booby traps or carry out special demolitions tasks. This position is doubled up with another appropriate team position, for some fields may not allow this specialized equipment.
HAMMER: As the TAPs mobile heavy gunners, these team members must possess a rapid-fire marker (30+ paintballs per second) and a heavy load of paint, to keep the oppositions’ heads down for the rest of the team. Their high volume of fire can create artillery barrages from a distance or offer more suppression fire than a single Broadsword can provide. They excel at defensive positions and bailing out the team when the rest are pinned down.
RAZORBACK: If we had a tank, these TAPs members would be it's crew! Oh well, someday…..
